Have a seat...
We are Reflections Jazz Lounge
At The Ram's Head Tavern. Located in DownTown Main Street South River, NJ in Middlesex County.
We were "re-established"
in 2003 after extensive renovations to The Ram's Head Tavern...previously a "Beer and Shot Joint" which catered primarily
to the local Blue collar workers in the Town. The Venue was acquired in May of 2002, shut down and re-concepted.
We
chose a Smooth and Contemporary Jazz theme due to our love of that Genre of Music. We chose a Lounge configuration because
it gave us the opportunity to allow our creative side to express itself while affording us the opportunity to effectively
create an "upscale" atmosphere.
|
During the re-concept phase, and upon completion of
the renovation effort, the Venue naturally took on the persona of an "Upscale" environment. As such, the Martini became the
cornerstone of our product line. We chose to only serve the best in premium aperitifs. All of our Tapped beers would be
of the higher quality beers (Sam Adams, Yuengling, Red Hook ESB, Killian's, Flying Fish Pale Ale, and ?????).
We chose
to become a "Cigar Friendly" Lounge in an effort to provide the most decadent of modern pleasures to compliment an extensive
Martini list. We accomplished this by calculating the minimum number of ceiling fans required to properly ventilate the Venue,
and then increased that number to the maximum in an effort to rapidly draw the smoke up towards the high ceiling where it
could be processed effectively, and efficiently. We then calculated the minimum requirements for an Air filtration/cleaner
system, and then doubled it to ensure that the smoke would be cleared as rapidly as possible. We are not a "smokey", smoke
filled bar by any stretch of the imagination!

Several people have asked about why we chose to keep
the name "The Ram's Head Tavern" when it had such a notorius stigma attached to it. The truth of the matter is that approximately
95% of our target Demographic had never heard of the previous Ram's Head, and as such it did'nt matter what we called it.
We also felt that the namesake of the local sports teams (Rams) had some tradition behind it which we felt was worth preserving.
Finally, we have personal reasons, soon to be announced, which will allow us to use the name in a very favorable manner. You'll
have to wait for that project to start to understand fully.
We refer to the "space" and "ambience" of the Venue as
"Reflections Jazz Lounge" to give additional class, and a sense of size to the Venue because it's so intimate. What we lack
in size we make up in quality of entertainment by showcasing accomplished musicians every Friday and Saturday.
|
To complete our vision, we chose not to inundate our
guests with "in-your-face" advertising from the myriad of Liquor and Beer companies. There are no Televisions, Pool Tables,
or Dart games -- "...this aint no sports bar!". We also request and require proper attire for your evening of Smooth and
Contemporary Jazz.
We want our guest to Relax, Indulge, and Enjoy our hospitality and premium spirits in the tradition
of a true "mature connoisseur".
Feel free to check our site often for the latest events we'll host, and to see which
Jazz artists are performing on our stage. All of our performers are professional, and accomplished Artists whom have performed
locally, regionally, nationally, and Internationally.
We ARE the "Gem" of South River, and we look forward to serving
you!
Relax, Indulge, Enjoy...

The Renovation was a HUGE success. The space is absolutely
gorgeous...reminiscient of Jazz/Blues Venues in Soho, NY, or Red Bank, NJ, or even New Brunswick, NJ. We constantly hear
the same comment time and time again: "...I feel like I'm not in South River anymore!"
Our exterior singage and beautifully
crafted entrance door immediately denotes class. Soft mellow hues of blue greet you as you enter the space and at once you
are immediately impelled to glance upwards towards our painstakingly restored original pressed tin ceiling now adorned with
a metallic silver finish to accentuate the metal.
Immediately to your right is a row or leather club chairs designed
to provide our guests with the most comfortable seating in the venue. The Floor is adorned with custom, imported ceramic tile,
laid diagonally as a visual aid to enlarging the space.
The center piece of the Venue is of course our illuminated
Bar. The original bar (over 50 years old!) top was refinished with the most luxurious granite available (Blue oyster pearl).
The granite was also custom fashioned into cocktail tables for the leather club chairs.

Oh well...that's
pretty much it. The Venue will cease operations as of July 1, 2008. We've made new friends and held onto those
who came out during our grand opening and continued to support us throught our many changes. Thank you for your past
patronage, and we look forward to serving you in the future at some new venture.
